Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our tools, our approach and how we work.
General
What exactly is DPLIANCE?
We're a software company based in Poitiers, France. We have four products: Mirage Analytics (cookieless analytics), Complio (automated GDPR audit), Cookilio (consent banner), and a custom development offering. All hosted on Scaleway in Europe. We've been around since 2019, and our compliance software runs in hundreds of organisations.
Are you a DPO? A GDPR consultant?
No. We don't do consulting, legal support, or DPO services. We're developers. We build tools that DPOs, marketers and IT directors use every day. If you're looking for GDPR guidance from a human, we can point you to DPO partners — but that's not our business.
Where is my data actually stored?
At Scaleway, in their European data centres. They're a French cloud operator, a subsidiary of the Iliad group (Free). Zero American subcontractors: not for the CDN, not for backups, not for logs. It's written in our Terms of Use and technically verifiable. We can provide the full list of our subprocessors on request.
How can I test your tools before buying?
Complio: run an audit for 89 € HT and you'll immediately see what your site does behind your back — that's usually enough to convince stakeholders internally. For Mirage and Cookilio, book a call via our contact page: we'll show you the product in real conditions on a demo environment.
What happens if I have a problem?
You email contact@dpliance.com. A developer who knows the product replies within 24 business hours. No chatbot. No 15-field form. No "your ticket has been forwarded to tier 2". One email, one answer, one human.
Does it work with WordPress? Shopify? My custom site?
Yes, all three. Mirage, Complio and Cookilio work with any website: WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Wix, PrestaShop, React/Vue/Angular sites, static sites… Integration is a 2-line script to paste before the </head> tag. Average installation time: 3 minutes.
Mirage Analytics
How can Mirage analyse my traffic without cookies and without consent?
Mirage collects no identifiable personal data. No cookie, no fingerprinting, no stored IP address. The script aggregates browsing data (page views, sources, duration) without ever being able to identify an individual. This is exactly the framework set by the CNIL (French data protection authority) for the consent exemption of audience measurement tools. It's not an interpretation — it's the product's very architecture.
Google Analytics is free. Why would I pay for Mirage?
Google Analytics is "free" because your data feeds Google's advertising network. In return, you get biased data: GA compensates for consent refusals with algorithmic predictions, and poorly filters bot traffic. With Mirage at 19 €/month, your data is measured directly, without predictions, without cookies, hosted in Europe — and serves only you.
Concretely, what do I see in Mirage?
Page views, traffic sources (referrers, UTM campaigns, organic search), full navigation paths, session duration per page, click heatmaps, anonymised session replays, conversion rate by goal. Data flows in progressively via a continuous stream — no nightly batch, but not real-time either: expect a few minutes.
I have a React/Vue/Angular SPA site. Does Mirage handle that?
Yes. The script automatically detects client-side route changes (pushState, replaceState, hashchange). No extra plugin, no configuration — it works natively from the first page load.
I want to migrate from Google Analytics. Is it complicated?
No. You paste the Mirage script (2 lines) and it's operational in under 10 minutes. We recommend keeping GA running in parallel for 2 to 4 weeks to compare. What our clients find: more reliable data, without the predictions GA uses to fill in visitors who refuse consent, and without the bot pollution GA filters poorly.
How does the price change if my traffic grows?
Pricing is based on the number of unique monthly visitors. 19 € HT/month up to 10,000 visitors. Beyond that, we'll make you a tailored proposal for your volume. Since there's no commitment, if your traffic spikes temporarily (campaign, event), you can move up a tier then step back down the following month.
Complio
My site is "GDPR-compliant" according to my web agency. Why an audit?
Because 90% of the sites we audit have undeclared cookies, scripts sending data to the United States, or forms without privacy notices. Your agency may have installed a cookie banner — that doesn't mean your site is compliant. Complio technically verifies what actually happens when a visitor loads your page.
What exactly does Complio find?
Every cookie set (name, duration, purpose, provider), every active third-party script (Google Fonts, Meta Pixel, HubSpot, Hotjar…), every data transfer outside the EU (to which servers, in which countries), and every form without a legal basis. The PDF report ranks everything by risk level with concrete corrective actions.
How long does the audit take?
About 10 minutes. Complio launches an automated browser that visits your site like a real user: it clicks, scrolls, accepts cookies, and records everything happening on the network side. At the end, you receive a structured PDF report with your compliance score.
If the CNIL (French data protection authority) audits me, is the Complio report useful?
The Complio report has no legal value per se — it's a technical assessment, not legal proof. But it's a factual, timestamped document that shows what your site was doing at a specific date. It's mainly useful internally: identifying issues, prioritising fixes, and documenting your compliance efforts to your management or DPO.
I have 12 sites to audit. Is that possible?
Yes. Each audit costs 89 € HT, regardless of volume. If you're a DPO with a client portfolio or an IT director with multiple sites, contact us for an adapted rate.
Cookilio
How is Cookilio different from Axeptio, Didomi or Tarteaucitron?
Most CMPs on the market are designed to maximise acceptance rates: bigger "Accept" button, more visible colour, legitimate interest enabled by default, scripts loading before consent. Cookilio does the exact opposite. A refusal actually blocks all non-essential scripts. No dark pattern, no CSS trick, no hidden legitimate interest. The consent register is exportable to document your compliance.
How can I be sure Cookilio really blocks scripts?
You can verify it yourself: refuse cookies on your site, open your browser's DevTools (Network tab), and see that only essential scripts execute. Zero requests to Google, Meta, or any other non-consented third party. It's technically verifiable, not just declarative.
I want my banner to match my brand guidelines.
Everything is customisable from the back office: colours (background, text, buttons), labels, screen position, style (centred popup, bottom bar, side slide-in). You edit in real time and see the result before publishing.
Concretely, what does the 250 € HT installation include?
We install Cookilio on your site from A to Z: script integration, identification and categorisation of all your existing cookies and trackers, banner configuration matching your brand, compliance testing, and production deployment. You don't need to do any technical work — we deliver turnkey.
What if the CNIL (French data protection authority) changes its recommendations tomorrow?
We update Cookilio with every regulatory change (CNIL guidelines, ePrivacy directive, Digital Markets Act). Updates deploy automatically on your site — you don't have to do anything. It's included in the subscription.
Custom Development
How does a project actually work?
Day 1: we do a 1-2 hour scoping brief — we understand your problem, not your specifications document. Day 3: you receive a clickable interactive mockup to validate the approach. Days 4 to 9: development with a visible checkpoint every 2 days — you see the product progressing in real time. Day 10: production delivery with technical documentation.
Why aren't all projects accepted?
Because we commit to a result: a tool delivered in 10 days, functional, at a fixed price. To keep that commitment, the scope needs to be clear and compatible with our method. We decline vague projects ("redo our entire IT"), projects with 15 stakeholders to approve, or those whose business value isn't obvious. This filter is what allows us to guarantee quality and delivery time.
What kind of projects have you already delivered?
Two concrete examples. First case: a client spent 12 hours per report between data collection, processing, entry and formatting. With the tool we delivered, they went down to 1.5 hours — over 85% time saved, and 42 hours reclaimed per month. Second case: a multi-agent system that automatically aggregates online data, couples it with the client's information system, processes it and generates a detailed business report. Result: the client interprets data they didn't have time to collect, enriches their own databases with up-to-date information, and delivers better value to their own clients — while spending less time searching.
What do I receive upon delivery?
The complete source code, documented and versioned on a Git repository. Admin access to the production infrastructure. Technical documentation describing the architecture, dependencies and deployment procedures. The project belongs to you — you can develop it internally or entrust us with the next steps.
What technologies do you develop with?
It depends on the need — we don't force a stack. Frontend: TypeScript/JavaScript (Angular, React or other depending on context). Backend: NestJS/Node.js or Python depending on the project. For LLM integration and multi-agent systems: LangChain or LangGraph. Database: PostgreSQL, MariaDB or other depending on constraints. We also adapt to your existing stack if the project warrants it.
Billing & Commitment
Am I locked in if I subscribe to Mirage or Cookilio?
No. The subscription is monthly, with no commitment period. You can cancel at the end of any month. No cancellation fee, no minimum period. Complio is billed per audit (89 € HT per audit). Custom development is a one-time fixed fee of 10,000 € HT.
How do you get paid?
Mirage and Cookilio: automatic monthly card payment. Complio: online payment when ordering the audit. Custom development: 50% on order (5,000 € HT), 50% on delivery (5,000 € HT). Bank transfer or card.
We're a local authority / association. Do you accept purchase orders?
Yes. We already work with local authorities, public institutions and associations. We adapt to your approval processes: purchase orders, agreements, simplified tenders. Contact us to set up the procedure.
Do the displayed prices include VAT?
No, all our prices are excluding tax. French VAT of 20% applies for French customers. European companies with a valid intra-Community VAT number benefit from the reverse charge mechanism (0% VAT on the invoice).
